Project Overview

A California residence with architectural warmth and modern restraint

The client wanted the home to feel elegant, comfortable, and visually unified from the first exterior view to the final interior detail. Arcaya approached the project as a whole-home case study rather than a set of separate rooms, allowing the white exterior walls, arched openings, black metal accents, natural timber, and soft neutral furnishings to speak the same language.

The result is a residence with a clear sense of place: Mediterranean-inspired architecture on the outside, warm modern living inside, and a material palette that moves naturally between built-in surfaces and loose furniture.

Interior Flow

Hard finishes create a calm base for the whole home

Inside the residence, Arcaya used a restrained hard-finish palette to support continuity across rooms. Pale flooring, white walls, warm timber doors, black metal details, and softly defined transitions allow each space to feel open without losing structure.

Hallways, thresholds, and circulation spaces were treated with the same care as the main rooms. This makes the movement through the home feel composed, with timber and black accents reappearing as visual anchors from entry to living areas.

Living And Kitchen

The main living area blends custom cabinetry with relaxed soft furnishing

The open living and kitchen zone is the center of the project. Arcaya combined warm timber wall cabinetry, a dark stone backsplash, black accents, a large island, and soft modular seating to create a room that feels both architectural and inviting.

The kitchen reads as a built-in feature wall rather than a purely functional backdrop. Timber panels conceal storage, the black stone working zone adds depth, and the island lighting gives the room a refined focal point. In front, layered upholstery and soft cushions make the space feel relaxed for daily family use.

Material Application

One palette carries the home from architecture to furniture

Arcaya used materials as a bridge between fixed construction and loose furnishing. White stucco and pale walls create brightness, timber provides warmth, black metal and stone bring definition, and soft upholstery adds comfort and quietness to the main rooms.

Custom Millwork

Storage and display are integrated into the architecture

Custom millwork is one of the most important elements in the residence. Arcaya used open shelves, tall timber storage, display niches, and fitted cabinetry to make storage feel intentional rather than added later.

These built-in details support daily use while also bringing texture to quieter corners of the home. Objects, ceramics, books, and lighting are placed within the millwork so the storage system becomes part of the spatial composition.

Private Rooms

Bedrooms and lounge areas shift the palette into a softer register

In the private rooms, Arcaya softened the architectural language through upholstered beds, pale bedding, woven textures, warm throws, low storage, and framed views. The rooms remain connected to the overall material story, but the tone becomes more restful and personal.

Artwork, sculptural furniture, and small decorative pieces are used selectively. This keeps the rooms quiet while still giving them enough depth to feel complete.

Stone and timber bring clarity to functional rooms

The bathroom areas continue the home's refined material direction. Marble-effect stone walls, polished fixtures, glass shower panels, warm timber vanity fronts, and simple lighting create spaces that are clean, bright, and aligned with the rest of the residence.

Arcaya kept these rooms visually composed by limiting the palette and allowing each finish to serve a clear role: stone for brightness and durability, timber for warmth, and metal fixtures for precise functional detail.
